Ranmore-backed Helpmore charity expands grassroots support in South Africa and the UK

Ranmore Fund Management’s charity, Helpmore, is expanding its support for grassroots community projects in South Africa and the UK. New initiatives include Just Planting Seeds, a youth rugby, education and feeding programme in Manenberg, Cape Town, led by local organiser Jason Poleman.

Just Planting Seeds runs boys’ and girls’ rugby teams, after-school support and a feeding programme delivering over 14,000 meals. In 2025, its teams were nearly unbeaten, with seven players selected for Western Province squads. Helpmore’s support has funded equipment, school supplies, coach stipends and safety upgrades at the Manenberg clubhouse, including plans to build a protective wall to shield against stray bullets during gang violence.

Jason Poleman, Founder of Just Planting Seeds, said: “Helpmore’s support has been transformational, allowing us to invest in equipment, school supplies, our feeding programme and coach stipends. That consistency has changed everything for our organisation and gives us real confidence for 2026.”

Sean Peche, Founder of Ranmore Fund Management and Trustee of Helpmore, said: “Helpmore backs small charities doing big things, giving them the long-term support they need to succeed. Just Planting Seeds shows what strong local leadership can achieve, even in tough communities. Our focus is on creating lasting opportunities for young people.”

Jamie Nye, CEO of Helpmore SA, said:
“We’re excited to have built a strong team that supports these charities doing great things in their communities. We’re calling on the public and inviting them to put forward any charity that you feel is making a real impact. You can ‘propose a charity’ on the Helpmore website at www.helpmorecharity.com

A core part of Helpmore’s work is Runmore with Ranmore, an initiative which collects outgrown sports shoes from UK clubs and schools for donation to underprivileged South African communities, promoting sport and reducing landfill waste. Helpmore also supports grassroots clubs and schools across the UK and South Africa, including Surbiton Hockey, Cobham Rugby and Esher Cricket in the UK, and community clubs in Alexandra, Langa, Komani, St Francis Bay and Manenberg.

Helpmore is developing the Helpmore Trust Index, a public resource to help donors identify credible community charities in South Africa and the UK, with the first version due to launch later this year.
